The Original American Malcontent

Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.

We Are All Insurgents

I keep hearing the word insurgent to describe the people fighting the US in Iraq - I thought it was strange - they aren't terrorists anymore, nor are they patriots, freedom fighters, rebels, guerillas, enemy combatants or even soldiers - (although they are sometimes called suicide bombers, but not martyrs willing to give their lives on a moments notice for the love of their god - as silly as that is.) So what does that mean?

1.Rising in revolt against an established authority, especially a government.
2.Rebelling against the leadership of a political party
3.One who is insurgent.

So by this definition, all of us who oppose the leadership of the Republican party are indeed insurgents and those who opposed Clinton when he was in office are also insurgents, those who oppose the Green party and the Socialists are also insurgents. Adams, Jefferson, Paine, Washington, Franklin - all insurgents.

Definition 1 gives me pause - Just exactly who is the established authority - the puppet regime that we cant trust to handle it's own military or intelligence community, or is it the United States?
